- Global independent life broker hires new Chief Executive Officer for Hong Kong
- Receives regulatory approval to acquire 100% of Global Wealth Solutions business from Willis Towers Watson through the management buyout of Charles Monat Associates. Now focused on completing the management buyout.
Hong Kong, 12 July 2017 – One of the largest independent life brokers in the world for high net worth individuals, Charles Monat Associates (collectively known as “CMA” or “Charles Monat”), today announced that it has appointed Berry Wong for the role of Chief Executive Officer in Hong Kong effective from 18 August 2017. Berry will join the Operational Committee in order to enhance the firm’s product and service offering for high net worth clients in Hong Kong, as well as through its ongoing partnership with Willis Towers Watson (NASDAQ: WLTW), the leading global advisory, broking and solutions company.
Berry is an industry veteran with more than 22 years of experience in the banking and trust industry. Previously he was the Regional Head of Wealth Planning Services, Asia Pacific for BNP Paribas where he was responsible for enhancing the wealth planning services platform. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Berry was Senior Director, Wealth Planning Services of HSBC Private Banking with primary focus on expanding and developing the fiduciary services for wealthy family in Asia, including Greater China, The Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
Reporting to Yves Guélat, Charles Monat’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Berry’s appointment comes as the firm positions itself for the future and what is widely expected to be the biggest global transfer of wealth and wealth re-distribution in the coming decades.

The announcement of Berry’s appointment coincides with receiving regulatory approval for a management buyout by the executive team at CMA to acquire 100% of the Global Wealth Solutions business of Willis Towers Watson. CMA and Willis Towers Watson will enter into a global arrangement to ensure that CMA clients have access to a global platform to service them on a worldwide basis. CMA will continue to have access to Willis Towers Watson’s wide range of human capital and risk management specialist services.
